Many parents have the question of how to improve their child\'s speech. So, first of all, we have to know what Speech means
Speech is the ability to express our thoughts and feelings. The speech pattern of a child who is autistic may be repeating words, sounding flat, or having an unusual pitch, rhythm, and tone. With this type of Speech pattern, it is difficult for someone to understand what he/she is trying to communicate, but for a child, they do not have such Speech patterns; their way of communicating is normal, like a normal person. At a very early age, we can know whether a child has a Speech problem.
A normal child at the age of 1 or 1.5 years starts to speak something like (ma " or, pa ....) but an autistic/speech-delayed child will not speak such words like ma " or, pa... From here, we can know a child is having a Speech delay.
COMMON SPEECH PATTERNS IN AUTISM
Echolalia
Pronoun Reversal
Monotonous Speech
Echolalia
From the word itself, we can understand the meaning \'echo,\' which means a have repeatative behavior which he/she have heard from their surroundings as echo. Their repetitive can be a words... This Echolalia can be common in a person who trying to learn how to speak and has an autistic spectrum disorder.
For Example
When you are offering something to an echolalic child as per their repetitive behavior, they will repeat the thing you are offering instead of saying \'no\' or \'yes. Suppose you are offering a candy; they will repeat \'candy\' \'candy \' instead of saying yes or no.
Pronoun Reversal

For example
To a Pronounun Reversal child, you are giving a toy. Instead of saying I want a toy. He /she will say, Abhishek ( proper name use ) wants a toy. Here, with the example, we can know a pronoun reversal child will always use their name.
Monotonous Speech
In Monotonous Speech, a child will always speak in a song; their way of speaking will have the tone of singing a song. Most of the time, a Monotonous child will speak robotically. They do not know when to control their pitch. Their way of speaking will be emotionless.
For example
A Monotonous Speech child does not know what to answer when the question is asked; whatever is taught to them, they will repeat the same thing like a robot does. In robots, what is stored in them, they will do only that thing, in the same way a Monotonous child does.
So, as per our question how to improve child\'s Speech, we can take multiplies of therapies like blowing, sucking, chewing and biting this all comes in oral excerise, taking this type of therapies makes our mouth muscles strong and strengthen to speak properly.
So, as you know, from a very early age, our developmental stage starts when we are in our mother\'s womb. Speech have some different level like, a normal child at very early he will starts babbling, then they will speak 1 words like Papa, mumma, kaka, Nana..., then they will starts making simple sentence like \'mumma give me water \',l ater on they will be able to make some stories in their head and will try to speak that.
The developmental stage of mentally, physiologically, psychologically and capturing capacity of something is 6 years, after 6 years a child finds difficult to capture something easily. That\'s why after 6 year, maximum child have repeatative behavior, they only speak what they have been taught. If a child has these types of problems, to avoid them, we can have therapy from a very early age. Having therapy at an early age can help these problems be sorted.
