Sensory Integration Importance
Why Sensory Integration is important in Autism?
We all are aware about our sensory organs such as Ears, Eyes, Nose,
Tongue and Skin.
All of these are playing a very important part in our life to add the quality
in the beautiful journey that is gifted to us by God.
As we all know Eyes helps to See, Ear to Hear, Nose to Smell, Tongue
to Taste and Skin to Touch. These are the five basic senses alongwith that
there are Vestibular sense that Helps in Body Balancing and Propioception sense
which is the sense that aware us about the position of our joints in space, for
instance chopping vegetables while watching TV or mobile,in this activity, we
are not actually looking at the knife and fingers but still able to chop the
vegetables even without looking at it.
In Autism or Global Developmental Disorders, the
child is either overseeing or avoiding through sensory organs because of which
there are behavioural issues.
Early implementation of Sensory Integration Therapy is crucial in
improving child\\'s sensory as well as behavioural issues. It is necessary to
feed sensory organs on daily basis like having food and water to give energy to
the body. There are various methods through which we can provide sensory diet
Such as Deep compression (exercise)all over the body, Oromotor exercise, Daily
living Activities at home as well as Physical play at park which helps in
improving sensory seeking and avoidance along with this it will definitely
improve the social interaction of the child.
Last but not least, by doing all these things we can add the quality
in the child\\'s life.
