PROCEDURE OF TONE DECAY TEST:
SECOND METHOD: Green'S Modified method of TDT
This test is based on Green's postulation that there is a loss of tonality aswell as aidibility if there is any lesion in the audiotary nerve. hence if rhere is any neural lesion , not only will the intensity of agiven tone abnormally decrease, but also its pitch decrease.while all the other methods of tone decay test measure the abnormal decrease in audibility (intensity)only, this modified Green's tone decay test also , measure the subjective change in the pitch (quality) of the pure tone . this procedure of test is similar to the Carhart's method, the only additional task to the patient being that he must indicate not only when he no longer hear the sound, but also when he perceives a change in the totality of the given sound .(1)When he thinks that the tone of the given sound is changing but yet remaining audible , and (2) When the given sound becomes inaudible.
